1. What is the MBPP?

The Montessori Beginning Practice Program (MBPP) is a non-award, skills-based program designed to build practical capabilities for early childhood educators working in, or wishing to work in, a Montessori environment. It is made up of eight short online courses, each supported by practical learning activities completed in a functioning Montessori-aligned early childhood education and care (ECEC) setting.

The MBPP is especially suited to:

  • Educators wishing to transition into a Montessori setting who are unsure where to begin
  • Current educators seeking to expand their practical Montessori skills and deepen their understanding of Montessori pedagogy

Students can choose from three pathways:

  • Montessori Infant (0–18 months)
  • Montessori Toddler (18 months–3 years)
  • Montessori Kindergarten / Cycle 1 (3–6 years)

You may complete one, two, or all three pathways.

Yes. Each short course is standalone and includes its own online learning, assessments, and Certificate of Attendance.

Each short course is delivered fully online through the Ugenius LMS. You will also complete practical skill-building tasks within a functioning Montessori ECEC centre.

All training is delivered at the Ugenius Education Centre, co-located within Montessori Beginnings in Mildura, Victoria. The Education Centre is based in a fully functioning early childhood education and care (ECEC) centre, allowing students to observe and participate in real-life Montessori practices from day one. This immersive setting supports the development of practical skills and contextual understanding essential to Montessori and Australian ECEC pedagogy. Mildura is a vibrant, multicultural regional community known for its welcoming atmosphere and diversity, making it an ideal, safe place for international students to study and live.

Your training will be delivered via a blended model:

  • Supported online learning through the Ugenius Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Practical tasks completed both during your work placement experience and through guided practice in real classrooms using authentic Montessori materials and contextualised teaching techniques

Placement will occur in a fully functioning early childhood education and care (ECEC) setting. Most placements will take place within Montessori Beginnings services, though alternative placements may be arranged where suitable.
